Hello hello friends! It’s been quite a while since last I posted. It’s all been for extraordinarily good reasons, I promise.
Like I said in the stickied post here, I put this blog on hiatus due to my year of service as the 2025 Caldecott Committee’s administrative assistant. It was an extraordinary joy and an incredible educational experience. Then, because my luck was pretty dang good last year, I served on the 2026 Geisel Committee! Serving on that committee as a full member was another beautiful experience and one that I will remember forever. Now that I’m done with the keeping-things-secret part, though, I’m super excited to get back to writing about books on my own time.
Since then, I’ve also moved into elementary school librarianship. The public library was a great experience, but I was ready for a change. I moved to the DC Public Schools in October of 2024. Being part of the school community has been wonderful and I now completely understand the love and hype for school librarianship. (Having the summers off is also a pretty nice bonus.)
I’m very excited to get back to blogging about books, though. I’m not sure that I will have as much time as before because I also have some official licensure courses to take this year; even so, I’m hoping to dive back in to the swing of things here.
Gichi miigwech, thank you very much, for your continued support. Whether you’ve been here a while or are just starting to check this space out, biindigen! Welcome! I appreciate you and I hope this will be a good way to talk about Indigenous representation in children’s literature / whatever I want to read, haha.
